        Case Studies & Briefs

        Case Brief:

        Company: Dell-Perot Systems
        Desktops: 20,000+
        Product: Liquidware Labs Stratusphere

Perot Systems uses Stratusphere™ FIT on all their large customers and have performed Assessments on more than 20,000 physical desktops to date. They follow Liquidware Labs’ proven Methodology by using Assessments to understand the baseline, virtualize the easiest desktops first and then expand the footprint to include the remaining by designing the infrastructure and density to meet customer requirements and user experience. All Perot Systems virtual desktops are then monitored by Stratusphere™ UX to continuously monitor health, performance and user experience on those virtual desktops. Perot Systems hosts these virtual desktops for their customers and thus needs visibility to meet stringent SLA requirements as part of the their commitment to their customers.

        Case Brief:

Company: Largest Big Box Retailer (name withheld)
Desktops: 6,000 virtual desktops moving towards 12,000
        Product: Liquidware Labs Stratusphere
Using Stratusphere™ UX to monitor 6,000 virtual desktops – 3,000 running on ESX 3.5 and 3,000 on VMware View 4. They have had many challenges with user experience and performance of virtual desktops with no tool to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that occur in large scale VDI implementation. They tested Stratusphere™ in a live proof of concept and were very impressed at the level of visibility provided across the VDI stack i.e. what is happening inside the desktop, on the network, in the host, and in the storage in a single pane of glass. They were also very impressed at being able to drill down to a single user/desktop/application/host/LUNS and correlate metrics from different areas that no other product/tool can do and understood in VDI everything is interrelated and tightly coupled. Also, they started transitioning developers first who need more resources than any other user group. So they will now use Stratusphere™ FIT to understand requirements of physical desktops & profile users and applications so that they can better design virtual infrastructure based on hard metrics which Stratusphere™ FIT provides than going about the ad-hoc design approach they used earlier. They understand that using Stratusphere™ and its methodology through Assessment, Migration and Monitoring truly provides the baseline needed for success in the VDI.

        Case Study:

Company: Largest NE USA Utility Company
        Desktop users: 2,500+ users
        Product: Liquidware Labs Stratusphere

The company recently started a VDI pilot which initially went well. However, as
testing continued and the pilot was expanded, the company ran into performance issues. Users began to complain of sluggish screens and intermittent system problems. The IT staff found it difficult to correlate the help desk calls with the actual performance issues in real‐time.

        Case Study:

        Company: Energy Services, Calgary, Canada
        Desktop users: 3,000 + users
        Product: Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity

The customer has more than 20,000 Citrix Terminal Server users that were in need of a unified profile solution that would work across multiple versions of Citrix and Microsoft Terminal Services. The Canadian HQ in Calgary alone has eight Citrix Terminal servers with more than 3,000 users.  The internal Citrix Project Manager wanted a solution that would migrate and persist Windows user profiles, settings, and data across the various versions of Citrix servers being used.
